How to Make Chicken Puff

Chicken puff is a delicious, scrumptious and healthy snack made with chicken and baked in a flaky, buttery pastry. It can be served as a snack, appetizer or even a main dish. It can be stuffed with any kind of filling like potatoes, vegetables and even egg or sweet fillings.

The recipe is easy and straightforward. It can be made in a quick time and is a great choice when you need to make something fast for your kids after school or an appetizer for a potluck party, book club meeting etc. This is also a great recipe to freeze for later as it takes very little time to prepare when it is freshly made.

First, the chicken filling is prepared. I pressure cooked chicken breast with black pepper powder, salt and ginger-garlic paste in water for 2-3 whistles. This way, the meat is very tender and easy to shred. I also used a blender to puree the mixture because I wanted a creamy and smooth filling.

When the chicken is shredded, add mayonnaise, tomato ketchup, mustard paste and crushed red chili flakes to it and mix well. Taste test and adjust the levels of spices according to your liking.

In the mean time, thaw the puff pastry sheets. While the puff pastry is thawing, you can prepare the filling and cut it into 9 squares. Once the puff pastry is ready, fill each square with the chicken mixture and fold it in a triangle shape. If you want, use a pastry crimper to crimp the edges or simply press with your fingers.
